For well over a decade as trade union official and economic adviser to SIPTU, I have stood with workers and their families listening to their concerns, representing their interests in the workplace and advocating for greater fairness in our economy and society.
Now as a newly elected Senator, I know that more than ever before, workers and their families need a strong voice for them in public policy making in Ireland. This public health crisis will leave long-lasting scars on our economy and society on terms of job security, incomes and the future of work. Ensuring that workers and their families are treated with fairness and dignity is at the heart of Labour’s work.
Issues of national importance start at the local. And I’m proud to say that I live and am raising my children among the thriving and diverse collection of communities in Dublin Central.
I know we can do so much more to make these great communities to live, raise our families and grow old in. I’m fighting locally to ensure that we get the balance right in what is being built in our communities, get speedier action on derelict sites and houses and provide families with local options for co-ed education for their children. Vibrant communities depend on decent adequate housing for those who want to make their lives here and a safer cycling and pedestrian network.
If there are any local or national issues which concern you please get in touch.
